April 14, 1865. Yesterday. Good Friday. That is the day that our dear president, Mr. Abraham Lincoln, was shot. I myself can hardly believe the words that I just typed. Shot! Shot at Ford’s Theater by the famous actor John Wilkes Booth. Mr. Lincoln died today at 7:22 A.M. at the Peterson house. Mr. J. W. Booth is still at large. There is a reward of $1,000 to whoever catches him.
